Nach dem tragischen Tod ihres Verlobten zieht Meg zu ihrer kranken Großmutter nach Staten Island. In einem italienischen Restaurant findet sich ein Job als Kellnerin und die neuen Kolleginnen, Raychel und Kate, werden schnell zur ihren besten Freundinnen. Die Idylle hat ein jähes Ende, als Meg entdeckt, dass das familiengeführte Restaurant mit der Mafia in Verbindung steht.
